Memorials and Donations

Families and co-workers often think of the library when designating memorials at the time of a family member’s passing. A simple phone call or e-mail to the Library Director allows you to discuss the most meaningful remembrance. The librarian tries to suggest fitting tributes that will benefit the entire community of readers in Towanda. Some past examples: a tree in the library yard in remembrance of a former library board member; seating in the library yard;

Holiday Gifts and Gifts to Mark Special Occasions

People sometimes mark the birth of a grandchild or an anniversary with the dedication of an item to the library’s collection. A special “book plate” is inserted inside the book’s cover stating the donor. Some past examples: the children’s kitchen was purchased with a kind donation from “A Secret Santa” and the library’s 75th Anniversary Celebration was funded by a donation from a former Towanda Library Board President who currently resides in another state.

Used Book Donations

The library is no longer accepting donations of used books – due to space constraints at the library. Gently used books that have been published within the past 2 years are still being accepted for possible inclusion in the collection.
